MEMORANDUM TO COMMISSIONS ON CONCERNS

MEMORANDUM TO COMMISSIONS ON CONCERNS AND ENTITIES RESPONSIBLE FOR TIA WORKSHOPS FROM: ICC CHAIRPERSON, ilps.chair@gmail.com SUBJECT: REPORT TO THE NEWLY-ELECTED ICC DATE: 7 JULY 2008

Because of the uneven state of organization of the commissions on 18 concerns, we are addressing this memorandum not only to the commissions but also to the entities responsible for the TIA workshops ( be they called lead organization, secretariat, working group, standing committee or what else).

We wish to know the exact organizational state of every commission. We therefore instruct each of the commissions and the entities responsible for the TIA workshops to do the following:

Please tell us what informative materials you have previously submitted or not yet to the ICC or the General Secretariat regarding the following: a brief historical background of the commission since FIA or SIA, name and composition of the current organ in charge of the commission between meetings of the commission, current contact persons or lead organization between commission meetings, list of organizations involved in the commission or the TIA workshop and other activities and the papers of the TIA workshop, including concept paper, minutes of proceedings, speeches, resolutions and program of action.

You need not submit again the materials that you previously submitted to the ICC or General Secretariat. We are more interested in the submission of the information or materials not yet submitted. The information that we are most eager to know includes the following:

  1. the name and composition of the current organ in charge of the commission between commission meetings,
  2. the current contact person and lead organization of the commission and email addresses thereof,
  3. the list of organizations involved in the TIA workshop and
  4. the list of activities that the commission plans to carry out.

Please submit to the email address of the undersigned ilps.chair@gmail.com (with CC to ruth ) not later than 15 July 2008 whatever information and related materials that you can give and explain to us briefly why you cannot yet give us any information and what is being done about it.

We wish to know immediately the current state of the organization of the commissions for the purpose of formulating, adopting and issuing the necessary organizational guidelines as well as guidelines for the commissions regarding their intramural tasks (e.g. serving the organs and member-organizations of the ILPS) and extramural tasks (e.g. undertaking public campaigns to arouse the masses, build alliances and attract forces to the ILPS fold). The ILPS Charter states the tasks of the commissions. The ILPS By Laws and further memoranda will further elaborate on these tasks.

Thank you for your compliance.
